On your half way to lvl 60 and to shattered world of Outlands (well it is 58, but who counts), make sure to stop and visit Scarlet Monastery; because they have best Warrior (and Paladin tank) shop in town. Occasionally you will see few people wearing Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade, but believe me there are more things you can get there than just tabard. Up till now, we have shown you how to dress for casual occasions and now it is time that your combat gear represents your fashion style as well.
In this column we will show you how to obtain Chain of the Scarlet Crusade item set and blossom on the field of battle. If your truly distinguished fashion set don’t blow up your nemesis, the stats on this item set will. (And I am sorry to say, this set is not PvP twink set
)
Before we start, I wanna warn you, that almost all pieces are ‘Bind on Equip’ . That means spending several hours in grinding, can be replaced with few minutes on Auction House. However, due to popularity of Scarlet fraction, you may find those items pricey. It is up to you to decide: farming or buying?
Another tip regarding the Scarlet set would be about Shield Aegis of the Scarlet Commander, which is not part of the set, but it is absolute must have in order to complete Scarlet appearance. Since it is ‘Bind on Pickup’ you will need to farm it with help of lvl 70 AoE toon, or PuG it. (When we started this article, we have been asked by Warriors and Tankadins to send message to all Shamans out there: FOR THE LOVE OF ELUNE (or what ever you believe in) DON’T NEED ROLL ON THE SHIELD! Just because you can wear it, that doesn’t mean you actually need it. You can’t even imagine how it feels like to be out-rolled on tank shield by Shamy.
Off to Scarlet Monastery now. If you haven’t been there yet it is located on Horde territory, Tirisfal Glades, North Eastern of Undercity. And it consists of four parts:
The Graveyard (lvl 30 – 34) Most left enterance, optional
The Library (lvl 33 – 36) Most right enterance
The Armory (lvl 35 – 37) Right side enterance, locked
The Cathedral (lvl 37 – 42) Left side enterance. locked
In order to unlock the locked parts you will need The Scarlet key (dropped by last boss in The Library), or Rogue with lockpicking skill 175.
After a brief introduction to Scarlet Monastery, here is the shopping list:
Scarlet Belt – best place to farm: Armory
Scarlet Boots – best place to farm: Armory (warning: low drop rate !)
Scarlet Chestpiece – best place to farm: Cathedral, drops only from ‘Scarlet Champion’ mobs (warning: low drop rate !)
Scarlet Gauntlets – best place to farm: Cathedral, drops only from ‘Scarlet Centurion’
Scarlet Leggings – best place to farm: Cathedral (last boss), and Armory (last boss)
Scarlet Wristguards – best place to farm: Armory, drops from ‘Scarlet Protector’ and ‘Scarlet Guardsman’

Once you get all set, here is nice “candy” bonus:
BONUS 1 – Aegis of the Scarlet Commander
Dropped by ‘Scarlet Commander Mograine’ boss in Cathedral.

BONUS 2 – Dreamslayer
Dropped by random mobs in the instance, Graveyard could be best place to look for it.

And as a final thought, please don+t mess up this nice looking set with some funky looking head piece. If you cant find anything suitable to match overall set appearance, please use interface option to hide helm.

FAN’S UPDATE
———————————-
It has been reported back to us that while concentrating on Scarlet set, we missed some really epic looking (and useful) drops, which can bring whole appearance up while boosting the stats. Lets check out what our fans said.
SHOULDER
Apparently there is great looking shoulder, and it adds up mean look to the whole set: Herod’s Shoulder . While stats scream TANKING! one look at it will /yell RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! . Well we can’t blame them.

In order to get them, kill the last boss on Armory; Herod. Drop rate ~33% .
TWO HANDER
We know that some players never drop shield from their left hand, even if they are just grinding. But for all of you two hander lovers out there, we have your ‘must have’ two hander Axe Ravager.

Axe can be also looted from last boss on Armory; Herod. Drop rate ~13% .
GLOVES
Apparently better looking and more useful yet near perfectly Scarlet set fitting gloves are also on Scarlet Monastery drop table: Gauntlets of Divinity .

Gloves are part of the Cathedral’s last boss loot table: Scarlet Commander Mograine. Drop chance ~19%.

UPDATE (01/2009):
While leveling my new Paladin, it crossed my mind around time my friend was boosting me through Scarlet Monastery, that this should be ideal occasion to add screenshots of this really great gear set to WFG
So here it is.
Now please, have in mind that I (we) didn’t manage to collect whole set, as we did just few runs, but as you can see; it was lucky few runs. And one more note regarding my mainhand; as you can see I am wearing Hand of Righteousness, which is casters weapon, but trust me, it works really well as main hand for pally as well as Vanquisher’s Sword which I usually carry with shield. Oh, I almost forgot, here is list of weapons I usualy carry arround at this level (L39): http://www.wowhead.com/?compare=7721;10823;7689;7717
Enjoy this small gallery and please send me yours, I will be more than happy to publish it

Btw, a bank alt wearable set that (to the best of my knowledge) looks identical to the Scarlet set is the Shoddy Chain set from the Blood Elf starting area.
You missed one more thing: Raging Berserker’s Helm. In my opinion it goes quite well with the scarlet armor set, it is dropped by Herod(the last boss in the sm armory).
I think you are correct.. That is the helm that all warriors, paladins, hunters and shamans roll need for
